How To Earn Free Flights, Just By Flying

The last two months I’ve received two free flights from just flying as an elite member. How you may ask? Simple.

Most airlines offer their elite members an elite mileage bonus. For example, on American Airlines if you are Platinum or Executive Platinum you get 100% bonus miles for every mile you fly, in other words, if you fly 15,000 miles roundtrip you just earned 30,000 miles which is more than enough for a free domestic round trip ticket within the continental United States or Canada. American offers their Gold members a 25% bonus. Delta Airlines offers their silver elites a 25% bonus as well, Gold and Platinum elites receive a 100% bonus while Diamond elites get a 125% bonus.. US Airways and United Airlines have mileage bonuses ranging from 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% depending on your elite status.

I took a flight from Baltimore, MD to Shanghai, China and from Los Angeles, CA to Sydney, Australia (both round trip) and from both of these flights I got about 30,000 miles, give or take. If you can’t add that up, that is about 60,000 miles – enough for 2 domestic round trip tickets or a round trip to South America or Europe.

My point is the same as always, try to stick to one airline and get elite status on it. The elite perks really do pay off! If you have any questions about elite mileage bonuses simply ask in the comment section and I will try to answer all your questions!
