An American Airlines passenger flying from Miami, FL to Chicago, IL aboard flight AA 1284 got into a physical altercation with an on-board flight attendant on Monday evening. The passenger forced the flight to make an unscheduled diversion to Indianapolis, Indiana to remove the unruly passenger.
Prior to flight attendants asking passengers to buckle up for landing into Indianapolis, many passengers were under the impression that the uproar involved a crying child.
The passenger was removed from the plane by Indianapolis Airport Police, whom the passenger also kicked, and the FBI and TSA are investigating the incident. According to Indiana police, the passenger has been charged with battery with injury, battery without injury, battery on a public safety officer, criminal recklessness, and two felony counts of disorderly conduct and disruption of operation of an aircraft. The flight continued to Chicago shortly after 7pm.
