Serbian authorities are investigating information that a cargo package containing two missiles bound for the United States were found on a commercial flight, according to the New York Times.

Media reports claim the missiles, reported to be AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, were bound for Portland, Oregon. They were seized by authorities from an Air Serbia flight that had departed from Beirut, Lebanon and arrived in Belgrade, Serbia.

According to the New York Times:

The American-made projectiles can be fired from air, sea or ground platforms.

N1 reported Sunday that Air Serbia is helping in the investigation. The Serbian flag carrier says “security and safety are the main priorities for Air Serbia.”

We will continue to monitor these reports for any more information as it develops, as the information currently available is only preliminary.
