CHEAP: United Offering East and West Coast Flights to Melbourne and Sydney, Australia In $500s
Yesterday, I wrote about great fares that we were seeing on American Airlines from East and West Coast cities from $600 and up. New York and Washington, D.C. were in the $700 range through June of this year. It seems that there are still a wide array of dates available where that is the case, but now United Airlines has its own cheap fares to both Melbourne and Sydney, Australia.
The fares are available from various U.S. cities to Melbourne, including Philadelphia, Miami, Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas, Chicago, Boston, Washington DC/Baltimore, and Orlando. Similar fares are also available from U.S. cities to Sydney, including Philadelphia, Dallas, Phoenix, Charlotte, Los Angeles, and Boston. The fares range from $584 (PHL) up through the $700s in other cities.
I’ve seen flights on Google Flights from Washington, D.C. to Melbourne through May of 2017 that are going for $759, which is comparable to the American fares of $765 from D.C. to Sydney.
For a full list of dates, you can visit Secret Flying or Google Flights.
Bottom line: this is really a tremendous opportunity to get to Australia for cheap, particularly for us East Cost people who are always feeling down about the high cost of traversing the country and then the Pacific! If you’ve been wanting to go to Australia, this may just be your chance to do it for cheap! It’s also important to once again point out that American Airlines is also offering some good fares, many of which are still available, through June of this year, so take a look from your city for both airlines to see if you can snag an affordable flight down under.
