American Airlines posted this time-lapse video of the first US Airways jet to undergo a makeover and emerge with the new American Airlines livery.
The two airlines legally completed their merger in December of 2013 and became the world’s largest carrier. The company expects that it could take up to two years to fully integrate the two airlines.
According to American Airlines it takes approximately 13 days to repaint each plane to reflect the new American Airlines livery. In order to save fuel, American gently removes the existing paint and then sands and washes the plane before adding the new paint.
