Alaska Airlines Offers New In-Flight Amenities, Including Free Messaging
On Friday, Alaska Airlines announced a kick off for 2017 with some new flight amenities, including probably on the best amenities for most people: Free Chat™! That’s right, Alaska Airlines is now giving you the opportunity to stay connected with friends and family on the ground through various messaging platforms, including Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, and iMessage. This service will be available on all flights enable with Go Go in-flight WiFi.
Additionally, through March 2017, Alaska is offering free, unlimited movies to celebrate their merger with Virgin America. The entertainment includes both movies and hit television shows. According to Alaska’s press release, new movies available in January include Nice Guys, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, X-Men Apocalypse, and Ice Age Collision Course.
Alaska also announced a Premium Class, which can be purchased for $15-79. The announcement says, “Alaska’s new class of service debuts this week on select routes. In addition to four extra inches of legroom, passengers seated in Premium Class enjoy early boarding and complimentary snacks and alcoholic beverages. More than 40 percent of Alaska’s fleet has been retrofitted with the new section, and by year-end, more than 90 percent will feature this new class of service.” The class of service can be purchased at booking, check-in, and at the airport. Additionally, Alaska Mileage Plan MVP, Gold, and Gold 75K members are eligible for complimentary upgrade to premium class.
Alaska Airlines messaging is a really great idea and a truly great benefit. The ability to message while flying is a pretty good one, and with the cost of in-flight WiFi, it offers a real opportunity for people to message without paying the high cost of the internet.
