American Airlines Finally Gives Pay Raise to Contract Workers
Approximately 275 American Airlines contract workers have finally received their $1-an-hour pay raise.
The JFK airport staffers, all of whom are employed by a subcontractor, had been expecting bigger paychecks since April.
American Airlines announced in February, one month after the Daily News launched its Fight for Fair Pay campaign, that it would hike the pay of its contract workers. Terminal cleaners are now making an average of $9 an hour.
Most of the airlines’ contract workers at LaGuardia and JFK airports started receiving their raises in April. But the Airway cleaners were left out in the cold until this month.
