American Airlines launching four routes from LAX
American Airlines will be adding four new routes from Los Angeles, saying flights to Edmonton, Alberta; San Antonio; Tampa and Vancouver, British Columbia, would begin this fall.
Flights to Edmonton, San Antonio and Tampa will begin October 2, 2014 with two daily round trips on each route. Tampa service will begin November 6, 2014 with one daily round-trip flight. The new routes will be flown on a mix of aircraft from both American and US Airways Express.
“Providing service from Los Angeles to these destinations strengthens our LAX hub which plays a vital role in our domestic and international network strategy,” Chuck Schubert, AA’s Vice President for network and schedule planning, says in a release. “As we continue work to integrate our two great global networks, we are committed to growing our presence in our hubs to offer customers the most convenient access to the most important global business and leisure destinations.”
The routes between LAX and Edmonton, San Antonio and Vancouver all will fly as US Airways Express on two-class Bombardier CRJ-900 regional jets. The LAX-Tampa flights will be operated by American Airlines on two-class Boeing 737-800 jets.
Once the new routes begin, American will fly to 53 domestic and international destinations from LAX airport.
