The results are in for the Business Traveller Awards for 2014, with American Airlines being named the “Best Airline in North America.”
We’re so proud to be named ‘Best North American Airline’ by @BTUK and couldn’t have done it without our #AATeam. pic.twitter.com/TlyyuqsYmZ

Unfortunately, the rating is the only one that included a number of U.S. airline companies. Most other categories were made up of foreign airlines. The best airline in the world, according to Business Traveller, is British Airways.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that Middle Eastern airlines like Etihad, Qatar Airways, and Emirates all fared quite well in the ratings system, taking both the best First Class and Business Class rating, including ranking well within other categories.
According to Business Traveller Awards, the best airlines in North America are as follows:
1. American Airlines
2. Delta Airlines
3. United Airlines
4. Air Canada
It is fair to note that Skytrax recently named Air Canada to be the “Best Airline In North America,” according to their own set of rating criteria.
It is rather disheartening to look at the list and see a complete lack of representation by U.S. airlines, but alas, that seems to be the way of the airline industry. Of the 14 total categories, a U.S. airline company ranked in only two of them. The second category was American Airlines’ 4th place rating for AAdvantage under the “Best Frequent Flyer Programme.”
