EQM – Elite Qualifying Miles / EQS = Elite Qualifying Segments
*Buying up does not give you the extra miles needed, it only gives you the elite status tier you buy up to.
I’ll update this post once more concrete details are available on the exact pricing per EQMs needed.
Some FlyerTalk members claim that they were offered different prices ($1,799). For a short period, there was a mistake price varying between $5 to $10. However, that mistake has been fixed and it doesn’t seem like AA has honored the mistake price, yet…
For obvious reasons, the buy up is only available to those whose status will expire on February 29, 2015 or who are very close to qualifying.
For some it might be cheaper to do a mileage run than dish out $1,199 to re-qualify. I already re-qualified for EXP so I was fortunately not eligible for the buy up option.
