Delta Air Lines Profit Falls 36.5%

Reuters reports that Delta’s profil fell 36.5% last quarter, from $980 million ($1.25 per share) in December of 2015 to $622 million (84 cents per share) in the closing of the fourth quarter of 2016 on December 31.

Delta’s total operating revenue fell from $9.50 billion to $9.46 billion.  On an adjusted basis, the airline earned 82 cents per share.

With all that said, the airline is forecasting growth in the year ahead.  Earlier this week, we reported that the Delta CEO said President-Elect Donald Trump’s victory in November was good for their bottom line and that they were hopeful his election would help take on the Middle East carriers, which Delta perceives as their greatest threat, mostly based on their affordable fares and quality product.
