New Layout Coming To DCA Will Enhance Dining Options Past Security

If you’ve been through DCA lately, you may have noticed substantial construction at the airport.  This is part of  a large project set to modernize the airport.  The project will get rid of walking on jet bridges and create a walkway between the airport and Crystal City, Virginia.  The new layout coming to DCA will change the National Hall area to be after security rather than before security.

Construction taking place now will have substantial improvement over dining options available between the B and C gates of the airport.  The project includes a wall between the check-in counters and National Hall.  The new wall will put National Hall past security instead of before security, where it is currently located.

This change will put Chick-fil-A, Ben’s Chili Bowl, Legal Sea Foods, and other stores and restaurants after security.  This is an improvement for travelers who just like to get through security and have access to a broad range of choices.  It is unclear whether the B and C terminals will be accessible by foot without leaving security.  That currently is not the case.

This will be a big change to the airport.  It’s going to be very interesting to see what the finished project looks like.  You can view renderings of the finished project at the Metro Washington Airports Authority website, as well as other information on construction.

What do you think of the changes?  I’m from D.C. and regularly fly out of DCA so the changes will be interesting to see.
