No foreign transaction fees with the US Airways MasterCard

Say goodbye to foreign transaction fees with the US Airways MasterCard from Barclaycard!

Effective immediately, the US Airways Dividend Miles credit card from Barclays will no longer carry a foreign transaction fee for purchases made outside of the United States.

Barclays sent cardmembers an email today informing them of the removal of the foreign transaction fee, which is just in time for my foreign trip today, and reminding them of the 25% on in-flight food, beverages, and headset purchases aboard US Airways and American Airlines operated flights.

I hope that Citi follows in removing foreign transaction fees just as Barclays, American Express and Chase have for their airline rewards credit cards. My (almost) exclusive credit card of use is the AAdvantage Platinum credit card issued by Citi, unfortunately though that card still charges you for foreign transactions.

This announcement is great (for me) because I am currently about to depart for DOH and LHR. Can you guess which credit card I’ll be using during my trip? 😉
