American’s latest heritage livery is…

American Airlines debuted its latest heritage livery on Facebook and Instagram today.

The new heritage livery is the Allegheny livery, which (obviously) represents Allegheny Airlines. Allegheny Airlines was founded in 1939 and ceased operations in 1979 when it became known as USAir, which was eventually renamed to US Airways.

The foundation of US Airways Express dates back to the Allegheny Commuter Service, which was a network of regional carriers, that served Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York City and other eastern cities.
