AA.com Now Reflecting New First Class Meal Service Window
American Airlines‘ website, AA.com, is now reflecting the new first class meal service window that I had reported a few weeks ago. The change is effective for flights on and after September 1, 2014.
It is unfortunate that they have reduced the flights that will cater meals for first class passengers but it was bound to happen eventually…I suppose. If I were a Platinum or Gold, I would evaluate whether getting upgraded to first class on some flights was actually worth the upgrade stickers. I personally would not use upgrade stickers for any of the below flights.
Why wouldn’t I upgrade on ANC-DFW? It’s on a very uncomfortable (and old) B757. It’s also a late flight which I would pass out on before I get a good dose of booze. I flew first class on AA278 back in June and though yes, it is a long flight, it is not worth it without a meal service. Your entertainment options also sucks aboard this flight.

Congrats to… Joseph May.! It looks like your two entries helped you out. We will be contacting you soon via Twitter or Facebook to get your mailing details.
Keep an eye out for Day 2’s competition later on today.
They are also sending out a new type of email to remind you to pre-select your meal. I just got this new email notice for an upcoming flight. Not a big change but different.
I have a trip to ANC in paid F in September, and I will be flying the ANC-DFW redeye… While I think the vast majority of the change is good [I flew the late night MIA-ORD earlier this month in paid F as well and would have appreciated a nice snack basket]. However, I think ANC-DFW should have been carved out just like with the Hawaii-DFW flights. It does not leave that late at night and it is a relatively long flight flying 1-1.5 hours longer than your typical transcon redeye.
