Best Western Status Match
I have been staying at Best Western a lot recently, mostly because as an Alumni at my previous university I save about $50/night at the local Best Western in Fairfax, VA. It being summer and all, I moved my stuff into a storage and have been staying with friends, family members or in hotels during my summer travels until I sign my new lease on August 1st. I saved about $4,000 by moving out for the summer.
Also, the Best Western in Key West, FL was cheap and I was only there for one night anyway. Best Western is usually pretty cheap, so it is worthwhile for large families or students, like myself, who have to spend money on more expensive things, like law school books.
Anyway – Best Western will match the status you have on other hotel loyalty programs with little hassle involved. For example, a Hilton HHonors Gold status will get you Best Western Diamond Elite status. As you may know, permanent Hilton HHonors Gold status can be achieved by having the Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve card.
As a Best Western Diamond Elite member you enjoy extra perks like:
- 30% bonus points per stay;
- Best available room (also available to Platinum Elites); and
- Welcome snack and beverage OR 250 bonus points (also available to Platinum Elites).
Granted, the benefits as a Best Western Diamond Elite aren’t as glamorous as getting upgraded to the executive floor with Hilton or having executive lounge access but it is better than nothing, right?
All you have to do to get the status match is 1) fill out a form, 2) show proof of status with another qualifying hotel loyalty program.
Competitor hotel loyalty programs that qualify for the status match:
- Priority Club
- Marriott Rewards
- Choice Privliges
- Hilton HHonors
- La Quinta Returns
- Starwood Preferred
- Hyatt
- Radisson
I did this a few months ago to get Diamond status and then used that to status match to IHG (though IHG doesn’t status match any more I believe)
