Mike Huckabee Tweets Joke About Getting Sucked Out of Airplane

Former Arkansas Governor and two-time presidential candidate Mike Huckabee sent out a tweet on Monday at Delta criticizing their “comfort” seats.  The former governor of Arkansas tweeted: “So-called “comfort” seat on @Delta CRJ200 so uncomfortable they should pay ME extra to sit in it. Good thing? We’re packed so tight in this sadistic sardine can that we can’t get sucked out of the plane! We’d never get pried out of these seats. Know a chiropractor in Evansville?”

The tweet seems to be referencing a recent incident with Southwest Flight 1380, which was forced to make an emergency landing earlier this week after the engine broke apart and broke a window.  A woman was partially sucked out of the aircraft window, but was pulled back in by her fellow passengers.  The woman, a mother of two from New Mexico, was later pronounced dead.

The tweet has been met with some pretty negative reactions, some of which have criticized him because of Governor Huckabee’s public persona as a righteous Christian and questioning how that persona fits into a tweet that seems in such poor taste.  Many people on Twitter find the tweets to be in poor taste and are criticizing the Governor for the tweet.  Some have even urged him to delete the tweet, something he has not yet done.  The tweet was posted this morning at 6:45 A.M.

Some people have defended the tweet, claiming he was simply making a joke about the terrible state of seats on U.S. airlines.

What do you think?  Was the governor just joking and we shouldn’t take it too seriously?  Or is this a total disrespect to the woman and her family who recently died from being sucked out of Southwest 1380?

  1. He’s saying that not being sucked out of the window is a good thing. Can’t disagree with him on that.
