Malaysia Airlines Flight: Crash Confirmed by Vietnamese NAVY [UPDATED 3]
Earlier today the story regarding the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which departed from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia en-route to Beijing, China made headline news across the world. Malaysian officials reported the flight missing, after it went off the grid and missed its landing slot in Beijing. The flight had a total of 239 on-board, this includes passengers & crew members.
The Vietnamese NAVY has confirmed that the Boeing 777-200 operated by Malaysia Airlines has crashed into the ocean just 153 miles south of Phu Quoc island. The flight had passengers of 14 different nationalities, including two infants of American and Chinese nationality.
As it stands, Malaysia Airlines is working with authorities to begin a search and rescue mission and comply with protocol in the ongoing investigation regarding the crash.
The list of passengers by nationality is as follows:
1. China – 152 + 1 infant
2. Malaysia – 38
3. Indonesia – 12
4. Australia – 7
5. France – 3
6. United States of America – 3 passengers + 1 infant
7. New Zealand – 2
8. Ukraine – 2
9. Canada – 2
10. Russia – 1
11. Italy – 1 (STOLEN PASSPORT)
12. Taiwan – 1
13. Netherlands – 1
14. Austria – 1 (STOLEN PASSPORT)
EDIT: Two European nationals listed on the flights manifest were not aboard the flight, they are are in another country. Foreign Ministry Officials in Rome and Vienna have confirmed that the passports listed in the manifest had reported their passports stolen in Thailand. One of the passports was lost last August and the second two years ago, both in Thailand.
EDIT 2: Reports now say that 20 of the on board passengers worked for an Austin, TX based company called Free Scale Semiconductor.
EDIT 3: The FBI issued a statement saying that they are sending agents to Malaysia to help the ongoing investigation.
