My Mid-Year Mileage & Life Report
Adam’s Mid-Year Mileage & Life Report
It has been a great year for me thus far in terms of mileage accrual. I switched over to American Airlines at the beginning of the year from Delta Airlines.
My move to American was not based solely on Delta’s new 2015 Skymiles program, but the fact that living in Washington, D.C. and traveling to Miami, FL quite often becomes a pain in the butt when you have long layovers. Even worse when those layovers are in Hotlanta.
So far this year I’ve flown a total of 78,396 on American/oneworld. I visited seven countries and 23 cities so far this year. Five of those countries I visited for the very first time. I’m set to reach 100,000 miles with AA on my birthday where, for which I snatched a flight from D.C. to Seattle for $333 round trip. BOOYAH!
Countries visited this year:
- Australia
- China
- Panama
- Egypt
- Morocco
- Spain*
- Bahamas*
*=Repeats
Upcoming trips:
- Beijing, China or Hong Kong: August/September 2014*
- Dallas, TX: September 2014
- Las Vegas, NV: September 2014
- Orlando, FL: October 2014*
- Seattle, WA: November 2014
- Buenos Aires, Argentina: December 2014
*=Planning stage
I’ve been fairly happy with American. Besides their grouchy flight attendants, I’ve had a 95% upgrade success rate. I’ve also had less delays and cancellations than I did with Delta at the same time last year. My upgrades on Delta were pretty low…but that is to be expected when you give them out like candy.
Traveling aside, I managed to graduate with honors in May from George Mason University! I can proudly say that I am the first person in my family to graduate from college.
How has your year been shaping up? I’d love to hear your mid-year stories!
