BREAKING: Second Ebola patient traveled with symptoms
It is now being reported that the second Ebola patient traveled with symptoms on Frontier Airlines, after contact the CDC to get permission to fly with a fever.
NBC is reporting that the second Ebola nurse who tested positive for Ebola today traveled on Frontier Airlines with fever. The nurse has been identified as Amber Vinson. Vinson claims that she contacted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention prior to flying because she had a slight fever.
A CDC spokesperson says that Vinson was not told that she could not travel.
On Monday morning, before boarding Frontier flight 1143 to Dallas, TX, Vinson reported a fever temperature of 99.5 but the CDC did not believe it was risky until her temperature reached 100.4.
The director of the CDC had criticized Vinson earlier for traveling, saying that she should not have boarded an aircraft. Another spokesperson says that it is common sense that Vinson should not have traveled.
Vinson was transferred to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta for further treatment.
My opinion? Leave it to the CDC to think that a nurse who was at risk and who had a symptom would be safe to fly…. Especially after the first nurse who was admitted had a low-grade fever as her first sign
Update: President Obama has postponed campaign trips in order to discuss the governments’ response to Ebola with advisers.
