Strikes in Italy – Flights Cancelled

Strikes in ItalyThere are strikes in Italy once again, a common occurrence within the European Union it seems. Labor unions that represent ground handlers have decided to invoke a strike, the strikes are affecting airports in Milan and Venice the most. The strike is expected to only affect travel today, May 30, 2014.

Airlines such as Alitalia, Meridiana and Air France are allowing passengers to change their flights in advance without a penalty.

Many users on FlyerTalk have said they have been victims of cancelled flights due to the strikes.

Call your airline and stay updated on your flight status and of course have a plan B ready in case your flight gets cancelled. You may want to consider extending your hotel stay, renting a car and driving to a nearby airport or any other creative idea that you may think of.
