Targeted: Earn up to TRIPLE award miles when flying F/J on American Airlines

American Airlines has sent out a targeted promotion to some AAdvantage members where they can earn up to triple award miles on paid first and business class tickets flown through July 8, 2018. Other AAdvantage members have reported receiving a promotion for double award miles on paid first and business class tickets flown through July 8, 2018. AAdvantage members who receive the promotion have until April 10, 2018 to register for the promotion.

Unfortunately, I only have one paid first/business ticket that would qualify for this promotion. I miss my second opportunity by four days. Either way, this is a great promotion and I obviously registered for it!

  1. How exactly do you figure out the miles? I am flying Raleigh to London. That’s 3700 miles. Times 2 because it’s in business. Flight cost $8000 and I have gold status with American. Is this triple mile promo layer on top of that?

    • It’ll be your base fare x elite status x 200%.

I.e., $500×5(base earnings)+200%= 16,500 award miles. Which is triple. For double miles it would be plus 100%. You would then have to add in your own elite status amount separately as the promotion does not take into account elite status earnings.
