Qatar Airways is set to start flying to Miami this week

Qatar Airways is set to start flying to Miami this weekQatar Airways continues to expand into the U.S. market, Qatar Airways is set to start flying to Miami this week with flights to and from Doha.

Qatar CEO Akbar Al Baker spoke at the St. Regis Bal Harbour yesterday that “Miami was in need of a five-star international airline and that there’s no competition yet from other Middle East carriers”, the Miami Herald reports. Many Middle East travelers want to take Caribbean cruises, said Mr. Al Baker.

“We want to open a new gateway to the Caribbean via Miami for passengers from our region to come and sample this new unexplored destination,” Al Baker said at the press conference with Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez.

This is Qatar’s sixth U.S. destination, it is also the only non-stop option from Miami to the Middle East.

Mr. Al Baker gave the Miami Herald a few reasons why Americans should consider Qatar for their next flight to the Middle-East, the reasons were that both its fleet and its flight attendants are young.

The age of Qatar’s fleet average around four years and two months old and their flight attendants are approximately 28 years old.

Will you be flying Qatar Airways? They are a member of the oneworld alliance (just like American Airlines and British Airways), making it easier to earn and redeem award miles to/from the Middle-East and beyond.
