US Airways Flight From Israel Diverted to Rome After 16 Get Sick

US Airways Flight From Israel DivertedA US Airways flight bound for Philadelphia from Israel was diverted to Rome after two passengers and 14 crew members fell ill. Reports say that the 16 people who fell ill were suffering from red eyes and nausea.

US Airways flight 797 was operated by an Airbus A330 and departed TLV Airport late Friday with 129 passengers and 14 crew members (10 flight attendants, 4 pilots). The aircraft is being evaluated to determine the cause of the outbreak.

The plane landed safely at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport (FCO) and those who were sick were medically evaluated, three crew members were taken via ambulance to a clinic at the airport. All passengers were re-accommodated on other flights.

  1. Didn’t US Air have issues a few months ago with this sort of issue on transatlantic flights. I wonder if it’s the same aircraft with some sort of fumes issue.
